Maldives launches an outdoor brand visibility campaign in Italy to promote the island nation’s tourism.
The premier destination marketing act of the country, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) noted the aim of the campaign is to promote the island nation as one of the most appealing tourist destinations for the Italian market.
The outdoor promotion campaign will witness over 350 screens at 14 different airports of the European country showcasing the pristine qualities of Maldives via video advertisements.
One of Italy’s most renowned travel agency Alpitour will be promoting the island nation with window displays at its 2,000 agency offices all across the country.
The travel agency is also responsible for catering the highest number of Italian tourists visiting Maldives.
Moreover, a tram service in Milan, the country’s second largest city, will place photos of the island nation’s unique tourist experiences and will be up on display for three months.
“MMPRC will continue marketing campaigns focusing Italy in 2020,” the statement from the island nation’s official tourism promotion body read.
“In this regard, MMPRC will participate in two major tourism fairs and organize press, influencer and celebrity familiarization trips along with joint campaigns with travel agencies including online campaigns and outdoor campaigns.”
The European nation is the oldest and one of the most instrumental tourist source markets to Maldives.
Since the birth of tourism industry back in the late 70s, Italian tourists were the first to grace and experience the island nation’s untouched beauty.
Meanwhile the Maldives Ministry of Tourism reported that by end of the previous year, the country attracted a total of 136,343 visitors to the island nation, which also was an increase of 29.5% compared to 2018.
The statistics of 2019 confirm Italy as the third largest single source market to the Maldives in arrival numbers.
