Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has exhibited the Maldives at BIT – International Tourism Exchange in Milan, Italy from 09-11th February 2020.
23 representatives from 11 Maldives tourism industry companies are participating along with MMPRC to promote the destination at the event.
Organized by Fiera Milano, BIT has brought tourists and travelers from all over the world to Milan since 1980. The first day of the fair is dedicated to both travel trade & consumer and the last two days are dedicated for the travel trade.
The Maldives stand is built in a 74 sqm space located on the first floor of the World Pavillion, Pavillion 4, in stand number C101. According to MMPRC, it displays various aspects of the destination through colorful images that represent the segments most preferred by Italian travelers.
Furthermore, in order to attract more visitors to the stand, several activities will be carried at the stand which includes visitors posting a photo with hashtag #VisitMaldives and standing the chance to win exciting prizes.
Additional activities at the Maldives stand include a chance to win a free holiday to Dhigufaru Island Resort by raffle taken among the visitors to the Maldives stand during the fair. Moreover, visitors can also get a chance to wear Maldivian traditional dress and find out more about the Maldivian culture.
Italy is one of the top and important market for the Maldives. A total of 136,343 tourists arrived from Italy to the Maldives in 2019 which is an increase of 29.5% compared to 2018.
MMPRC has stated that participating in BIT will help achieve the targets that have been set for this market and several initiatives will be taken by MMPRC to further increase the destination presence in Italy in the year 2020.
