Delayed medicine shipment from India arrives


The shipment of medicine, which got delayed due to several circumstances, have arrived in Maldives with the assistance of Indian government.

Indian government announced a nationwide lockdown stretching for 21 days in order to quell the massive outbreak of COVID-19, reaching the country, that resulted in the delay of the shipment.

State Trading Organization (STO), the main body in importing pharmaceutical medicine to Maldives, confirms the consignment was ordered before the COVID-19 crisis.

The consignment, which reached Maldives on Thursday, 02 April 2020, weigh 6.2 tons included medicine used in countering the currently pandemic virus as well as several other medications.
