Maldives Ministry of Finance reveals the total spending of Covid-19 related efforts as of 30 April 2020 was observed at MVR665.4 million.
According to the ‘Weekly COVID-19 Spending Report’ published by the ministry, under the Covid-19 related efforts the spending committed by the Ministry of Health and National Disaster Management Authority contributed to 91.2% of all spending.
The ministry further attests majority of the spending on Covid-19 related efforts were directed towards the procurement of medical consumables (PPE) and equipment.
In addition, the spending was also directed towards the provision of financial assistance to purchase staple food “to reinforce food security.”
According to the ministry’s data, MVR387.3 million was spent on National Disaster Management Authority. Another MVR135.7 million was spent on Ministry of Health.
Ministry of Finance further reveals that out of the total weekly spending MVR353.9 million went into supplies and requisites for service provision.
