The Ministry of Finance reveals the total spending by Maldives government towards COVID-19 efforts have reached MVR873.3 million.
Ministry reports the spending for the week as of 14 May 2020 increased 7.3% from the previous week.
Week-on-week increment is reported at MVR59.1 million, largely linked to increased spending by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
NDMA spending was directed towards procurement of more medical consumables, supplies and requisites.
The authority contributed to 32% surge in supplies and requisites, observed in the increased spending on fuel and meals of employees.
Ministry of Tourism committed towards paying provisions for doctors.
Data reveals NDMA spent MVR581.1 million while Ministry of Health spent MVR135.7 million.
Other spending includes MVR84.1 million from Disaster Management Fund and MVR26.9 million from Tourism Activities Implementation Fund.
