The total spending towards COVID-19 efforts stood at MVR866.9 million as of 21 May 2020, marking a 0.7% decrease from previous week.
According to Ministry of Finance, the spending include committed-spending towards the efforts against curbing the viral pandemic.
Moreover, the weekly decrement was registered due to the cancellation of a medical equipment order by NDMA.
Despite the decline, both Ministry of Health and NDMA continue to be “frontline agencies spending towards COVID-19 efforts.”
Moreover, most types of spending observed a week-on-week increase.
As such the most notable spending was on medical consumables which increased by MVR7.1 million.
Additionally, supplies and requisites increased by MVR6.5 million to facilitate the operations.
According to the latest update, National Disaster Management Authority spent MVR567.7 million.
On the other hand, Ministry of Health spent MVR139.2 million towards COVID-19 efforts.
