The telecom giant Ooredoo Maldives have introduced Facebook Flex, a version that allows customers to connect with the popular social media for free.
According to the press statement released on 11 June, Thursday, Ooredoo Maldives partnered up with the world’s leading social networking site to introduce the free service to its customers.
Moreover, Ooredoo Maldives reported the move will reduce the cost to communicate and enhance its customers to stay connected with friends and family.
As such, Ooredoo mobile users with any data subscription can access a basic version of Facebook and Facebook Messenger with “zero balance and no data charge with a tap of a button.”
Furthermore, Ooredoo in their statement added that all mobile users will be able to use the said feature by logging on to their accounts from free.facebook.com.
Additionally, Android users can access the version directly from Facebook and Facebook Messenger application.
Moreover, the Facebook Flex enables non-smartphone users to connect and enjoy the platform through their mobile browsers.
Regarding the Facebook Flex feature, the Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Hussain Niyaz said “at a challenging time like this, as we fight together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, our biggest priority is to provide affordable access to information and to keep our customers connected.”
“With the introduction of Facebook Flex, all Ooredoo mobile customers are now able to stay in touch with their friends and family and stay updated on the latest news without any charges. This new feature, allows our customers to control their data usage with a single tap of a button while browsing Facebook, enabling them to further reduce the cost of data,” Niyaz added.
Ooredoo Customers can now chat, post, like, comment and share as well as browse through text-based content on Facebook for free.
