Applications remain open for the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering Maldivian students the opportunity to pursue higher education in India.
The High Commission of India in Malé had earlier announced the fully funded scholarship programme, which enables students to study at leading universities across India across a wide range of academic disciplines.
A total of 32 scholarship slots have been allocated for Maldivian students. This includes 20 undergraduate placements, 10 opportunities in art and culture, and two additional slots focused on yoga and fitness studies.
The scholarship programme covers a diverse range of undergraduate fields, including engineering and technology, science and agriculture, and arts and humanities such as history, political science, philosophy and liberal arts. Students can also pursue studies in business and commerce, traditional medicine, information technology, as well as specialised areas such as classical Indian dance and music.
The ICCR scholarship scheme continues to serve as a key pathway for Maldivian students seeking international education, while also strengthening long-standing cultural and educational ties between the Maldives and India.
Applications must be submitted through the Admissions to Alumni (A2A) portal before the deadline on 15 April 2026. Further details are available via the official portal.
