Land reclamation works in HA. Dhidhoo are progressing steadily as planned, with 41 hectares reclaimed so far, accounting for 36.61 per cent of the overall project completion.
The works are being carried out by Leiv Eiriksson, a trailing suction hopper dredger with a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres. The vessel is currently undertaking dredging and reclamation operations to ensure the project remains on schedule.
The reclamation project is expected to significantly contribute to the development of Dhidhoo, particularly in supporting airport expansion, housing initiatives, and the provision of essential community infrastructure.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) commenced the land reclamation works in Dhidhoo on 5 January 2026. Once completed, the project is expected to enhance connectivity and improve living standards for residents in the area.
