Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched self-service banking ATM services in Haa Dhaalu Finey today, announcing plans to expand the service to every inhabited island in the atoll within the week. The expansion comes under the Bank’s “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” initiative, aimed at increasing nationwide access to modern banking facilities.
The inauguration
in Finey was attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, several ministers, BML
Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and
senior bank officials.
Speaking at the
event, CEO Shareef said the initiative underscores BML’s commitment to
financial inclusion across the Maldives. “Our investment to expand our ATM
network in Finey and the wider atoll reflects our commitment to bringing
banking closer to our communities. Residents and visitors alike will now have
access to state-of-the-art ATM machines for self-service banking 24/7 without
the need to travel to another island,” he noted.
The Bank
confirmed that new ATMs will be rolled out across ten more islands in Haa
Dhaalu Atoll this week, making it the first atoll in the country where every
inhabited island will have its own ATM service.
As the Maldives’
largest financial institution, BML currently operates 41 branches across all 20
atolls, along with 146 self-service banking centres, 204 ATMs, and extensive
digital banking solutions.
