The government has opened 955 scholarship opportunities for Maldivians to pursue allied health studies locally and overseas as part of a wider programme to train 1,500 professionals in the field.
The initiative is aimed at addressing growing demand for skilled technical professionals in the healthcare sector, while increasing local participation, reducing reliance on foreign professionals and creating more employment opportunities for Maldivians.
The scholarships are available for diploma, degree and master’s level studies. The programme is open to people already working in healthcare as well as those interested in pursuing careers in allied health.
Allied health refers broadly to specialised healthcare professions that support diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and patient care alongside doctors and nurses.
The government expects the programme to help develop a stronger local healthcare workforce and improve access to services across the country.
Further information on available scholarship opportunities and application requirements is available through the Kuri portal.
Applications will close at 1:30 pm on 31 December 2026.
