Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has opened a new retail outlet in Fuvahmulah City, expanding its nationwide retail network to seven locations.
The outlet, located next to the Fuvahmulah Fish Processing Facility, was inaugurated by MIFCO Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Anas.
The Fuvahmulah outlet is MIFCO’s second retail location outside the Greater Malé region, following the opening of its Hithadhoo outlet in Addu City earlier this year. The company also operates two outlets in Malé and three in Hulhumalé.
MIFCO said the new outlet will stock its full range of products and is intended to improve access to locally produced fish products for residents of Fuvahmulah.
The expansion forms part of MIFCO’s wider plan to establish retail outlets in major population centres across the country. The company said earlier this year that it intends to increase access to its products outside the capital and strengthen its domestic distribution network.
MIFCO’s retail outlets have been operating seven days a week since August.
