Bank of Maldives (BML) has finalised arrangements to enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to receive payments from overseas customers through the BML Payment Gateway, with the service targeted for launch on 1 November.
The service will allow MSMEs selling goods and services to international customers to accept overseas payments and receive the funds in US dollars.
The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade and the Business Center Corporation (BCC).
The facility was earlier announced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu as part of efforts to expand access to international payment channels for Maldivian businesses.
BML said it is working with the Ministry and BCC towards launching the service on 1 November 2026.
