Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has held discussions with airline partners as part of preparations for the upcoming peak travel season.
MACL’s operational teams joined the Airline Operations Committee meeting alongside Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, with discussions focused on strengthening coordination with airlines and addressing operational challenges.
The meeting forms part of wider preparations at Velana International Airport (VIA) for increased passenger traffic during the winter tourism season.
MACL earlier held its Winter Readiness 2026/2027 Kickoff Meeting to align operational priorities and strengthen coordination across the airport ahead of the seasonal increase in travel demand.
VIA also began using Terminal 2 for international check-in operations from 25 October, with passengers of 10 international airlines directed to the terminal during the winter season. The arrangement brings both passenger terminals into use for international travellers during the peak period.
The winter period traditionally coincides with the Maldives’ busiest tourism season, when international airlines increase capacity and passenger volumes through VIA rise.
