Sales of 10kg cooking gas cylinders have resumed following the arrival of a new shipment, according to State Trading Organization subsidiary Maldive Gas.
The resumption ends a temporary period during which smaller cylinders were sold due to supply constraints. Increased demand and disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions had led to shortages, prompting the sale of 5kg and 7kg cylinders in recent weeks.
The latest shipment, delivered last Friday, has restored availability of standard 10kg cylinders.
Rising global fuel and gas prices, driven by developments in the Middle East, have affected supply conditions. STO had previously adjusted fuel prices, although the government stated that further increases could be managed.
Authorities confirmed that additional fuel shipments are being arranged to ensure continued supply stability.
