The SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) has announced the appointment of Uz. Hassan Kalaam as a new non-executive director to its Board of Directors, strengthening the corporation’s leadership with his extensive experience in Islamic finance.
Kalaam currently
serves as the Chief Islamic Banking Officer at Bank of Maldives, where he has
played a pivotal role in the strategic growth and development of the Bank’s
Islamic Banking operations. A licensed Shariah Advisor, Kalaam brings over 13
years of experience in the financial services and banking sector. He holds a
Master’s Degree in Islamic Finance from the International Centre for Education
in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) in Malaysia and is a Senior Associate Member of the
Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals.
With Kalaam’s
addition, the Board of Directors now comprises Mr. Mohamed Shareef, Mr.
Badhurudheen Hassan, Ms. Fathimath Farihath Waheed, Uz. Hassan Kalaam, Ms.
Fathimath Azma, Mr. Ahusal Mohamed, and Ms. Fathimath Yamna.
SDFC continues
to focus on fostering sustainable development in the Maldives’ SME sector,
leveraging both financial expertise and strategic guidance from its board to
enhance support for local enterprises.
