SME Digital Named Title Sponsor of New “Odin Rashah” Swimming Series

In the competition, swimmers will enter the water from a boat and cover 500 metres to the island.

SME Digital has been named title sponsor of Odin Rashah, a new swimming competition organised by Swim Maldives. The inaugural event will take place in Villimalé on 3 October 2026, with 100 swimmers expected to participate.

In the competition, swimmers will enter the water from a boat and cover 500 metres to the island. Swim Maldives describes Odin Rashah as the first competition of its kind in the Maldives.

The Villimalé event, called SME Digital Odin Rashah, will launch a series intended to promote swimming beyond Malé and bring the sport to communities across the atolls. Swim Maldives plans to hold events on five other islands next year. It also expects to announce a second event in this year’s series shortly.

For SME Digital, the title sponsorship offers a way to engage with communities outside the capital and raise awareness of its financing facilities for small businesses. The company said events on host islands could also bring in visitors and participants, creating opportunities for local businesses and contributing to local economies.

The Villimalé competition will be the first step in Swim Maldives’ plan to build Odin Rashah into a nationwide series.
