Bank of Maldives has launched PayMV QR codes, allowing
customers to send and receive money through QR codes generated in the BML
Mobile Banking app. The feature offers a quicker way to make transfers without
needing to type account numbers or reference details.
With this launch, the Bank is the first financial
institution to comply with the Maldives Monetary Authority’s standards under
the Maldives Payment System Development project, which focuses on improving
digital payment systems across the country.
According to CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, the
new feature aims to make everyday transactions easier and more convenient. He
highlighted that customers can now transfer funds just by scanning a code,
which can be particularly useful for shops, small businesses and personal
transfers.
How to Use PayMV QR Transfers
To Send Money:
Open the BML Mobile Banking app
Select Scan QR
Scan the recipient’s PayMV QR code
Confirm the amount and complete the transfer
To Receive Money:
Open the BML Mobile Banking app
Generate QR Code
Show or share your QR code
The sender scans it and completes the payment
The Bank continues to expand digital services nationwide
alongside its physical network of branches, ATMs and self-service centers.
