Mohamed Afeef Hussain has been appointed as the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, bringing more than four decades of public service experience to the leadership of one of the Maldives’ key utility providers.
Afeef’s appointment places a veteran administrator with extensive experience in infrastructure, utilities, and government operations at the helm of the state-owned enterprise, which plays a central role in delivering electricity, water, and sanitation services across the atolls.
He has previously served as Chairman of Fenaka Corporation, as well as Chairman of the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), providing strategic oversight across major utility institutions. His experience also includes multiple board roles in regional utility companies, positioning him at the centre of governance and decision-making in the sector.
In the public sector, Afeef has held senior Director General roles in Public Works Services, Housing, and corporate departments under various ministries. In these positions, he led large-scale infrastructure development efforts, coordinated national projects, and contributed to strengthening institutional performance across government agencies.
Afeef began his career in water and sanitation services and later progressed through operational and executive roles in the electricity sector and public works. His work over the years has contributed to the development and management of critical infrastructure systems across the Maldives.
His academic and professional background reflects a focus on governance and strategic management. He holds a Master of Shariah and has completed a Board Executive Certificate in Directorship from Singapore Management University. He also holds diplomas in Business Administration and Business Management, and is professionally certified as a Balanced Scorecard Professional and Risk Management Professional.
Fenaka Corporation continues to play a key role in supporting utility service delivery across the country, particularly in outer islands where infrastructure development remains closely linked to economic activity and living standards. Afeef’s appointment signals continuity in leadership with a focus on institutional experience, as the company continues to manage service delivery and infrastructure demands across its nationwide network.
