Velana International Airport (VIA) has successfully handled its first-ever Sea-to-Air transshipment cargo from Cambodia, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of the airport’s Sea-to-Air connectivity into Southeast Asia.
The successful operation was carried out in collaboration with Qatar Airways, with coordination by CEF Logistics, demonstrating the strength of strategic partnerships in enhancing regional and global cargo connectivity.
The milestone represents an important step in expanding Velana International Airport’s logistics network, positioning Malé as an emerging transshipment hub linking Southeast Asia with key destinations in Europe. By integrating sea freight with air cargo services, the Sea-to-Air solution offers faster and more efficient transit for time-sensitive shipments while providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional air freight.
The achievement further reinforces MLE’s growing role as a strategic logistics gateway, connecting Asian markets with Europe through seamless multimodal cargo operations.
