Ooredoo Maldives
has announced the launch of the country’s first-ever eSIM-enabled smartwatches
in collaboration with Samsung, marking a major step forward in digital
connectivity.
With this new
service, customers can stay connected directly from their wrist making calls,
sending messages, streaming music, and more without needing to have their
smartphone nearby.
“At Ooredoo, we
are committed to bringing the latest innovations to our customers and
transforming digital experiences in the Maldives, said Khalid Al-Hamadi,
CEO & MD of Ooredoo Maldives. With Samsung eSIM wearables, we are
unlocking new possibilities for connectivity, making it easier for our
customers to stay in touch, track their fitness, and manage their daily
activities effortlessly.”
Samsung has also
expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the impact of this
technology on daily life in the Maldives. Thushara Rathnaweera, Deputy General
Manager of Samsung Sri Lanka, stated, “Samsung is thrilled to partner with
Ooredoo Maldives to launch eSIM on our smartwatches. Whether you’re diving or
fishing far from shore, stay connected without your phone track time, share
locations, or take calls seamlessly. This announcement is a testament to our
commitment to innovation and enhancing the digital lifestyle of users in the
Maldives.”
Ooredoo Maldives
confirmed that the Samsung eSIM wearable service will be available to customers
next month. While the smartwatch can be activated with an existing mobile
number, the company will soon release further details on supported devices and
activation steps.
