Ooredoo Maldives has unveiled a host of new digital services, exclusive customer promotions and community initiatives as it celebrates its 21st anniversary on 1 August, marking more than two decades of shaping the country's telecommunications landscape and accelerating its digital transformation.
The company, which became the Maldives' first private telecommunications provider in 2005, said the anniversary represents not only a milestone in its corporate journey but also a celebration of the country's progress towards becoming a digitally connected nation.
Over the past 21 years, Ooredoo has introduced a series of technological firsts to the Maldivian market, including the country's first 3G, 4G and 5G mobile networks, while making significant investments in international connectivity through submarine cable systems. The operator has also expanded its portfolio beyond traditional telecommunications by introducing digital financial services, AI-powered customer experiences and strategic global partnerships aimed at improving digital access and convenience for customers.
Today, the company says its role extends beyond providing connectivity, with its long-term Digital Maldives vision focusing on empowering individuals, businesses, entrepreneurs and communities through technology that creates opportunities, strengthens the economy and improves everyday life.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Shadi Qawasmi said the anniversary is a tribute to the confidence customers have placed in Ooredoo over the past two decades and a reaffirmation of the company's commitment to the future.
"As we celebrate 21 years in the Maldives, we celebrate the trust our customers have placed in us and the incredible journey we have shared together. Every milestone we have achieved has been made possible by the people of the Maldives, our partners, and our dedicated employees. While we are proud of what we have accomplished together, our focus remains firmly on the future as we continue building a smarter, safer, and more inclusive Digital Maldives powered by innovation," he said.

To commemorate the milestone, Ooredoo has introduced two new digital services aimed at enhancing customer convenience and improving online safety.
Leading the anniversary announcements is the introduction of Truecaller Premium, which is now available directly through Ooredoo billing.
The integration allows customers to subscribe to the premium caller identification and spam protection service without requiring a separate debit or credit card or any third-party payment platform. Subscription fees are billed directly to customers' Ooredoo accounts, simplifying access to the service.
The launch comes amid increasing concerns over spam calls, scam attempts and fraudulent communications worldwide.
Subscribers to Truecaller Premium will gain access to several enhanced features, including advanced spam and scam protection, profile view insights, Incognito Mode, contact requests, an advertisement-free experience and a Premium verification badge.
According to Ooredoo, the partnership makes one of the world's most widely used caller identification services more accessible to customers in the Maldives while strengthening their digital security.
Ooredoo also announced the introduction of ChildSafe Parental Control, a new service available for eligible 5G AirFibre customers.
The solution is designed to help parents create safer online environments for children by enabling them to manage internet access and make better use of parental control features available on supported home broadband devices.
To encourage customers to experience the new service, Ooredoo will offer ChildSafe free of charge throughout August 2026.
The company said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to promoting responsible internet use and supporting families as digital connectivity becomes an increasingly important part of daily life.
Alongside the launch of new services, Ooredoo has rolled out several customer promotions that will run throughout August.
On 1 August, all eligible prepaid and postpaid customers will be able to claim a 21GB data pack through the Super Deals section of the Ooredoo Super App.
The complimentary data pack can only be redeemed on 1 August and will remain valid for one day.
Customers spending MVR 400 or more using Mastercard through the Ooredoo Super App will qualify for a lucky draw to win return air tickets to Malaysia for two.
Customers can increase their chances of winning by saving their Mastercard within the application or enabling AutoPay, with each qualifying action providing additional entries into the draw.
Ooredoo has also partnered with Maldivian to launch another travel promotion exclusively for prepaid customers.
Under the Ooredoo x Maldivian campaign, customers who recharge MVR 400 or more will automatically become eligible to win return air tickets to Dhaka sponsored by Maldivian.
Rather than holding a single draw, Ooredoo will select winners every 10 days throughout August, before continuing the campaign with quarterly winner selections over the following year, extending the anniversary celebrations beyond August.
The first 100 customers upgrading to eligible Club Premier plans worth MVR 1,000 or more during August will receive a MVR 100 discount voucher for the Huopan App.
The voucher will remain valid until 31 December 2026.
Existing SuperNet Unlimited subscribers upgrading to the next eligible broadband package will enjoy higher internet speeds while continuing to pay their existing monthly subscription fee for the first three months.
Ooredoo has also introduced a limited-time 21st Anniversary SuperNet Add-on, allowing customers to purchase 21GB of data at 21Mbps for seven days for just MVR 21.
Fun Run returns in December
The company also confirmed the return of the Ooredoo Fun Run, one of the Maldives' largest community events.
Scheduled for 11 December 2026 in Hulhumalé, the event is expected to once again attract thousands of participants for a day centred on health, family entertainment and community engagement.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Ooredoo also concluded its 20th Anniversary #LiveUnlimited campaign, announcing the recipient of its grand prize.
The company named Misriyya Ali as the winner of a Hajj trip for two, following the successful awarding of 19 Umrah pilgrimages during the campaign.

While celebrating its achievements over the past 21 years, Ooredoo says its focus remains firmly on the future.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to investing in next-generation telecommunications infrastructure, digital services and community initiatives that will continue supporting the Maldives' digital transformation.
From expanding AI-powered services and strengthening fintech solutions to creating safer digital experiences for families and empowering entrepreneurs through better connectivity, Ooredoo said it remains committed to building a smarter, more connected and digitally inclusive Maldives.
The anniversary celebrations, which will continue throughout August, reflect both the company's appreciation for the loyalty of its customers and its ambition to continue leading innovation in the country's telecommunications and digital sectors for years to come.
