Dhiraagu has announced the opening of applications for the position of Public Director on its Board of Directors, inviting eligible shareholders to contest the role that represents the interests of minority shareholders.
The company stated that the Public Director is elected through a vote among general shareholders, excluding majority stakeholders, to ensure broader shareholder representation at board level. The individual selected will serve a term beginning from the upcoming Annual General Meeting and continuing until the conclusion of the company’s second AGM following their election.
According to Dhiraagu, shareholders will be able to participate in the voting process by attending the meeting in person, joining online, or casting their vote through designated proxies. The election is set to take place during Dhiraagu’s 36th Annual General Meeting scheduled for April.
The Public Director position plays a key role in strengthening corporate governance by providing minority shareholders with a formal voice in strategic decision making. The role contributes to maintaining transparency and accountability within one of the Maldives’ largest telecommunications providers.
Dhiraagu has invited interested shareholders to submit applications for the position before 15:00 hrs on March 12. The company noted that further details regarding the application process and election procedures are available through its official channels.
The announcement forms part of Dhiraagu’s ongoing governance practices aimed at promoting shareholder participation and ensuring balanced representation within its board structure.
