Ooredoo Maldives has officially launched the return of its popular Ramadan promotion, “Karaa Falun” this year promising bigger prizes, new interactive features, and a grand prize package worth MVR 100,000.
Announcing the campaign at a press conference, Ooredoo’s Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz said the company aims to deliver a more engaging and family-oriented experience during the holy month. He noted that this year’s edition is designed not only to entertain but also to strengthen social connections and bring communities together.
A major new addition to the campaign is “Karaa Quest,” a location-based activity integrated into the Ooredoo App. Participants can visit specific locations marked on a digital map to “smash” virtual watermelons and unlock rewards. The feature encourages users to explore their surroundings while taking part in the nationwide challenge.
In another first for the promotion, the game has been redesigned as a team competition. The entire country will be divided into two factions — the “Red Army” and the “Blue Army.” Customers can join their preferred team through the Ooredoo App and compete collectively for top honors.
“For this year’s Ramadan, we are bringing back the fan-favorite ‘Karaa Falun’ with enhanced features and more excitement than ever before,” Niyaz said. “A standout feature is ‘Karaa Quest,’ which encourages users to visit physical locations shown on the map to unlock prizes.”
The ultimate prize this year is a “Creator Bundle” valued at MVR 100,000. The package includes an iPhone 17 Pro, a MacBook, an iPad, a drone, and an Osmo Pocket Creator kit — a set tailored for aspiring content creators and digital enthusiasts.
Beyond the grand prize, Ooredoo confirmed that every participant who successfully “smashes” a watermelon will receive a guaranteed gift. Rewards include popular data bonuses from previous editions, such as 1GB of data valid for four hours, along with other digital perks.
Niyaz expressed hope that the campaign will add to the spirit of Ramadan. “We hope this game strengthens social connections and contributes to a joyful Ramadan experience for everyone,” he said.
In addition to the gaming promotion, Ooredoo also announced special speed upgrades for its SuperNet customers during Ramadan. Customers subscribed to 30 Mbps packages will automatically receive speeds of up to 100 Mbps, while 50 Mbps packages will be upgraded to 150 Mbps. Those on 100 Mbps plans will enjoy 200 Mbps, and 200 Mbps packages will be increased to 250 Mbps — all at no additional cost.
Ooredoo stated that the speed enhancements will be applied automatically and form part of a broader series of Ramadan offers and giveaways planned throughout the month.
