Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has successfully concluded departure operations for Maldivian pilgrims travelling through Velana International Airport (VIA) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage of 1447 AH.
The operation was conducted under a coordinated airport facilitation framework led by MACL in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Maldives Hajj Corporation, airlines and other relevant authorities. The joint effort ensured that pilgrims completed departure formalities in an organised, comfortable and dignified manner.
Throughout the Hajj departure period, MACL mobilised management and frontline teams across several departments, including Passenger Services, Terminal Services, Estate Security Services and other operational divisions, to support passenger flow, terminal coordination, family waiting arrangements and overall passenger assistance at VIA.
Special arrangements introduced during the operation included dedicated waiting areas for pilgrims and their families at the former Domestic Terminal, facilitation of Friday prayer services at the Waterfront Building, and the provision of drinking water, ablution facilities and coordinated support services throughout the departure process.
MACL expressed appreciation to all government institutions, partner agencies, airlines, stakeholders and staff whose collective efforts contributed to the successful completion of this year’s Hajj departure operations.
The company stated that the operation reflects MACL’s continued commitment to delivering safe, seamless and people-focused airport services.
