Major traffic flow changes have come into effect at Velana International Airport following the relocation of domestic flight operations to Terminal 2, the airport’s former international terminal.
The new arrangements, effective from February 17, 2026, introduce revised drop-off and taxi pick-up points for domestic passengers in a move aimed at streamlining traffic and improving passenger flow within the airport premises.
Under the updated system, all taxis and private vehicles transporting passengers departing on domestic flights are now required to drop them off in front of Terminal 2. Authorities have strictly prohibited dropping off domestic passengers at the previous domestic terminal area.
Meanwhile, passengers arriving on domestic flights who require taxi services must proceed to the designated taxi queue located near Terminal 1. Airport officials clarified that the changes are limited to traffic flow and drop-off arrangements, and that there will be no alterations to existing airport bus routes.
The airport management has requested all passengers, drivers, and visitors to take note of the revised arrangements and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
The relocation of domestic operations to Terminal 2 marks a significant operational adjustment at the country’s main international gateway, with authorities emphasizing the importance of public cooperation to ensure a smooth transition.
