Bank of Maldives
(BML) has inaugurated self-service banking ATM services in R. Vaadhoo,
launching a major initiative to establish ATM services across all inhabited
islands of Raa Atoll under its “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” program.
The inauguration
ceremony, held today in Vaadhoo, was attended by Minister of Cities, Local
Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, along with BML Chairperson
Ahmed Ali Habeeb, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed
Shareef, and senior officials of the bank.
Speaking at the
ceremony, CEO and MD Mohamed Shareef said the launch in Vaadhoo marks the first
step in extending services throughout the atoll. “We are proud to establish our
ATM services in R. Vaadhoo, marking the beginning of our work to establish ATM
network across the atoll. Today we will start our ATM services in 8 additional
islands, reflecting our commitment to provide accessible banking services in
every corner of the country,” he said.
The expansion is
part of BML’s broader strategy to strengthen its nationwide presence and
accessibility. Currently, the bank operates 42 branches across all 20 atolls,
180 self-service banking centres, and 238 ATMs, alongside advanced digital
banking platforms.
As the largest
financial institution in the Maldives, BML continues to position itself as a
community-focused bank, providing innovative banking solutions while extending
services to previously underserved islands.
