President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Fathimath Ameeza as the Commissioner General of Taxation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), effective Thursday, 16 July 2026.
Ameeza brings more than 16 years of service at MIRA, where she most recently served as Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation. Throughout her career, she has played a key role in advancing tax policy reforms, strengthening the authority's governance framework, and enhancing revenue mobilisation efforts.
During her tenure as head of MIRA's Enforcement Division, Ameeza led initiatives that utilised data analytics and evidence-based policymaking to improve the systematic collection of outstanding tax and non-tax revenues, contributing to stronger compliance and enforcement mechanisms.
Ameeza holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Her appointment reflects the Government's continued commitment to strengthening tax administration and enhancing the effectiveness of public revenue management in the Maldives.
