Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched the first batch of its Security Officers Training Programme, underscoring its commitment to enhancing security operations and professional standards at Velana International Airport.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Hulhule’ Island Hotel and was graced by the Controller General of Immigration, Commissioner of Police (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh, alongside senior officials from MACL Estate Security Services.
The five-day training programme is being conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service through the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement. A total of 28 officers from MACL Estate Security Services are participating in the inaugural batch, which blends classroom instruction with hands-on practical training.
The programme focuses on key areas such as legal frameworks, professional conduct, patrol and surveillance techniques, evidence identification, self-defence, physical preparedness, and team coordination. These components are designed to strengthen operational effectiveness and reinforce professionalism among MACL’s security personnel.
MACL said the initiative reflects its ongoing efforts to align airport security operations with international best practices, while ensuring a safe and secure environment for passengers, staff, and airport stakeholders.
