MPAO appoints Yazmeed Mohamed as CEO

The Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) has appointed Yazmeed Mohamed as its new chief executive officer, the institution announced on Thursday.

The CEO post became vacant after long-serving staff member Sujatha Haleem resigned.

Yazmeed most recently served as vice president and commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) from 2025 to 2026. During his tenure, he chaired the Judicial Conduct and Complaints Committee and served on the Judicial Academy Advisory Board and the Judge Performance Evaluation Committee, according to MPAO.

He previously served as a commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) from 2014 to 2019, where his work included overseeing investigations and governance reviews across government agencies.

Yazmeed also has experience in the private sector, having served as chief financial officer of AFAMI Maldives Private Limited and general manager of Onhigo Private Limited. He has also worked independently as an auditor, accountant and consultant, advising organisations on investment planning and governance.

He began his career at the Auditor General’s Office, where he worked for more than a decade and rose from trainee accounts officer to manager, financial auditor.

Yazmeed is a chartered certified accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom. He holds an MBA from Open University Malaysia and a first-class honours degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University in the UK. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives.

MPAO is an independent statutory body established on May 13, 2009, under the Maldives Pension Act. It administers the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme (MRPS) and the Old-Age Basic Pension
