SME Digital will conduct SME engagement programmes in Fuvahmulah City and Addu City this month, as part of its efforts to expand access to financing for small and medium enterprises across the Maldives.
The Fuvahmulah leg runs on 10 and 11 June 2026. It will focus on promoting Islamic micro financing introduced by Bank of Maldives under the Maldives Islamic Social Finance Initiative (MISFI), a programme administered by SME Digital targeting underserved entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners.
Activities in Fuvahmulah will include financial literacy sessions, one-to-one customer consultations, and on-site processing of financing applications. The Fuvahmulah City Council will support the activities alongside SME Digital, Bank of Maldives, and Business Center Corporation.
SME Digital will then travel to Addu City from 13 to 18 June 2026. The Addu visit will include meetings with local councils, NGOs, and other stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities. Engagement sessions with prospective customers will also be held to raise awareness of available financing products.
The outreach is part of SME Digital's broader push to improve financial inclusion and expand access to Shariah-compliant financing outside Male'.
