Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has announced the addition of a fifth weekly flight to Trivandrum (TRV) and Cochin (COK), further strengthening air links between the Maldives and South India. The new frequency will come into operation on 19 December 2025, expanding the service to five flights per week on each route.
The airline said the increased frequency will offer travelers more flexibility to plan trips for business, medical purposes, or leisure without the limitations posed by the previously restricted schedules. The enhancement is expected to reduce waiting times and improve connections for both Maldivian and Indian passengers.
All flights on the routes will be operated using Maldivian’s Airbus A320, featuring 152 seats — 14 in Premium Economy and 138 in Economy Class. With a flight time of just over an hour, passengers can expect a fast and comfortable journey aboard the airline’s modern narrow-body aircraft.
Maldivian has also announced special return fares for local passengers:
Cochin (COK): USD 176
Trivandrum (TRV): USD 232
Along with competitive pricing, the airline continues to provide a full-service experience. Economy Class passengers are entitled to 20kg of baggage allowance and receive a complimentary hot meal and beverage. Premium Economy travelers enjoy priority check-in, 30kg baggage allowance, free date changes, additional legroom with reclining seats, and an enhanced meal and beverage service.
Maldivian stated that the decision to introduce the fifth weekly flight underscores its commitment to offering convenient, reliable, and comfortable travel options across the region. The airline reaffirmed that expanding connectivity to key South Indian cities remains a strategic priority as demand for travel continues to grow.
