Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has successfully concluded the VIA Blood Donation Camp 2026, a two-day campaign held to support the national blood supply and promote voluntary blood donation, the company said on Sunday.
The initiative, conducted on February 1 and 2 at Velana International Airport, saw strong participation from MACL employees as well as staff from various organizations operating within the airport premises. The campaign was organized as part of MACL’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and received an encouraging response from donors.
Organized in collaboration with Maldives Blood Services (MBS), the blood donation camp was aimed at addressing the current shortage in blood stocks following recent public appeals by MBS. The timing of the campaign was also intended to help strengthen national blood reserves ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, a period when donation rates typically decline due to fasting.
MACL noted that the success of the programme reflects the strong sense of social responsibility among the airport community and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national healthcare needs. The company has been organizing blood donation campaigns on an annual basis as part of its broader efforts to contribute to public wellbeing and community support initiatives.
