TMA Sets New Operational Record with Over 7,000 Passengers in a Single Day

Trans Maldivian Airways has marked a significant milestone in its operational history, recording the highest single-day volume of flights and passenger movements ever handled by the airline.

In a statement released following Saturday’s operations on 15 February, the national seaplane operator confirmed that it successfully served more than 7,000 passengers while completing over 800 take-offs and landings across its network. The figures represent an unprecedented level of activity for the airline, underscoring its capacity to manage peak demand at scale.

The airline said the achievement reflects the strength of its operational readiness and its ability to deliver seamless connectivity across the Maldives’ dispersed island geography, even under intense schedules. Managing hundreds of closely timed movements across multiple resort destinations requires precise coordination, real-time decision-making, and high levels of technical and operational discipline.

TMA credited the milestone to the tireless efforts of its pilots, engineers, operations teams, ground staff, and support personnel, whose close coordination ensured smooth journeys for passengers throughout the day. The airline highlighted that such performance is the result of sustained teamwork and experience in handling complex operations, particularly during high-demand travel periods.

As the world’s largest seaplane operator, Trans Maldivian Airways plays a central role in the Maldives’ tourism infrastructure. The airline noted that the record-setting day reaffirms its commitment to reliability, safety, and service excellence as passenger volumes continue to grow.
