Bank of Maldives (BML) has commenced work to establish a new branch in Thaa Vilufushi, further strengthening its nationwide network and expanding access to banking services in the region. A groundbreaking ceremony was held today, attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Cabinet Ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and senior officials of the Bank.
The new branch
is expected to significantly improve convenience for residents, businesses, and
communities in Vilufushi and surrounding islands by providing a full range of
banking services closer to home.
As part of the
ceremony, BML also inaugurated a new Self-Service Banking ATM in Vilufushi
under its “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” project, which aims to broaden financial
accessibility across the Maldives.
Speaking at the
event, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the branch reflects
the Bank’s long-term strategy of enhancing financial inclusion in the atolls.
“We are delighted to announce the new branch for Vilufushi, as part of BML’s
strategy to strengthen our nationwide presence. Through the branch, we are
excited to bring our full suite of banking services even closer to the
community here,” he said.
Bank of Maldives
currently operates the country’s largest banking network, with 42 branches
established across all 20 atolls, 173 Self-Service Banking Centers, 231 ATMs,
Agent Banking services, and a wide range of digital banking solutions.
