On 24 September, a special new children’s book, Rannamaari, was launched, beautifully coinciding with the Maldives’ national commemoration of embracing Islam.
Published by
Instagram page @Hashanara.mv, the 24-page book reimagines a legendary tale for
young readers in a way that is both gentle and inspiring. Rated PG, it is
designed for children of all ages, introducing them to timeless values through
a story full of meaning.
Author Zaheen
DhonManik shared that his goal was to tell Rannamaari’s story “without
sensitive details,” preserving an important part of Maldivian heritage while
enriching children’s vocabulary. The book carries messages of kindness,
compassion, courage, and tenderness — lessons that transcend generations.
Zaheen expressed
deep gratitude to those who contributed to the project, notably Ashraf Ali,
former President of the Dhivehi Language Academy, and writer Hassan Shakir
Mohamed.
Priced at MVR
115, the book is now available at a special introductory price of MVR 95 for
the first 100 customers, with free delivery to Malé, Hulhumalé, and boats.
Orders can be placed via Instagram @hashanara.mv or by calling 9996465.
