President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, this morning at the Tianjin Yingbin Hotel, where the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
President Xi
Jinping welcomed President Dr Muizzu and expressed appreciation for his
official visit, noting its importance in further enhancing the longstanding
friendship between the two nations. He underscored China’s readiness to deepen
cooperation with the Maldives, especially under the framework of the
Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2024–2028).
During the
meeting, discussions centered on key areas of collaboration, including economic
development, trade and investment, security, and fostering people-to-people
exchanges. President Xi assured China’s full support in assisting the Maldives
to achieve its national development objectives, highlighting the
result-oriented nature of the partnership.
President Dr
Muizzu, on his second official visit to China, conveyed gratitude for the warm
hospitality and the opportunity to strengthen cooperation at the highest level.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to advancing relations with China
in a way that benefits both countries.
The meeting
concluded with both leaders reaffirming their determination to elevate
bilateral ties and work closely together to achieve mutual progress and
prosperity.
