Ooredoo Maldives and Police Hold Scam Awareness Sessions for Senior Citizens

Representatives from the Maldives Police Service shared guidance on spotting suspicious activity and responding to potential fraud.

Ooredoo Maldives has held digital literacy and scam awareness sessions for senior citizens at Israhvehinge Naadhee in Malé and Hulhumalé, with the participation of the Maldives Police Service.

The sessions focused on helping participants recognise common scams and use smartphones and online services more safely. Participants learned how to identify fraudulent calls and messages, phishing links, impersonation attempts and requests for personal or financial information.

Representatives from the Maldives Police Service shared guidance on spotting suspicious activity and responding to potential fraud. The programme also covered ways to protect passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs) and banking details.

Alongside scam awareness, participants received hands-on support with smartphones and everyday digital services. The interactive sessions gave them an opportunity to ask questions and build confidence in using technology independently.

Ooredoo Maldives has supported initiatives for senior citizens at Israhvehinge Naadhee since 2018. The company said the latest sessions form part of its efforts to improve digital inclusion and online safety through collaboration with community partners.
