Ten baristas have qualified for the national final of the Lavazza Barista Challenge Maldives 2026, following a two-day preliminary round held at the Lavazza Barista Training Centre in Malé.
The qualifying round, held from 30 to 31 August, tested participants on their coffee-making skills, creativity and technical knowledge. Competitors also received specialised training ahead of the challenge to help refine their professional techniques.
The ten finalists will compete on 9 September at Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) 2026, where the national champion will be selected.

Participants will be evaluated on several areas, including espresso preparation, creativity, personality and the effective use of ingredients. The competition aims to showcase the technical skills and individual style of baristas working within the Maldives’ hospitality industry.
