Maldivian, the national airline, has announced the introduction of seasonal flights to Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, ahead of the December school holidays, catering to increased travel demand during the festive period.
The airline will
operate direct weekly services to both destinations throughout December and
January. Flights to Kuala Lumpur are scheduled every Sunday, with round-trip
fares starting at USD 335, while services to Bangkok will operate on Tuesdays,
priced at USD 399. Both routes will be non-stop, and bookings are now open for
travellers.
This move
continues Maldivian’s established practice of launching temporary routes to
popular destinations during school recess periods, temporarily expanding its
international footprint. Currently, the carrier maintains scheduled operations
to five cities across China and India.
The announcement
also underscores Maldivian’s broader strategic ambitions. The airline has
recently revealed plans to appoint an agent to support the expansion of
services to South Korea, signalling its intent to enter new markets and
diversify its international network.
