Land reclamation works for Hulhumalé Phase 3 have reached 50 percent completion, reflecting steady progress in the ongoing urban expansion project. A total of 31.5 hectares out of the planned 63 hectares has now been reclaimed.
The project is
currently being carried out with two dredgers, Prins der Nederlanden and
Oranje, each with a dredging capacity of 22,000 cubic metres, actively
operating at the site to maintain the pace of reclamation.
The Phase 3
reclamation works are being undertaken by Maldives Airports Company Limited
(MACL), which commenced the project on 10 November 2025. Upon completion, the
reclaimed area is expected to support future housing and infrastructure
development, contributing to long-term urban planning efforts and easing
development pressure in the Greater Malé region.
