State Trading Organization (STO) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable national development through a wide range of impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sponsorship programs rolled out during the second quarter of 2025.
Focusing on infrastructure, education, health, and youth empowerment, STO’s initiatives were strategically aligned with three key UN Sustainable Development Goals: Sustainable Cities and Communities (Goal 11), Quality Education (Goal 4), and Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3).
Building Sustainable Communities
STO supported the renovation and construction of schools, recreational facilities like indoor gyms and turf grounds, and several public spaces. The organization also extended its aid to the Youth Empowerment Society to set up a hydroponic farming system, promoting innovation and sustainable agriculture.
Empowering Through Education
As part of its educational outreach, STO sponsored the Hybrid Book Fair organized by the Islamic University of Maldives and backed the Young Entrepreneur Fair held by the Children’s Ombudsperson’s Office. Furthering youth development, the company collaborated with youth associations to conduct training sessions, while also donating televisions and air conditioners to seven academic institutions to improve learning environments.
Enhancing Health and Well-being
To promote wellness, STO initiated programs supporting both physical and mental health. This included backing an awareness camp for the blind and visually impaired and funding special educators through Care Society. STO also donated air conditioning units to four healthcare facilities and sponsored seven additional wellness-focused initiatives.
Sponsorship Highlights
STO also provided over MVR 100,000 in sponsorships to several key programs:
- B.G Sports Club – Futsal Ground Development (MVR 150,000)
- Care Society – Special Educator Support (MVR 191,947)
- Sifainge Welfare Company (SIFCO) – Event Support (MVR 180,000)
- Maldives Basketball Association – SABA Qualifiers (MVR 100,000)
- Ministry of Economic Development and Trade – Maldives Expo 2025 (MVR 250,000)
These efforts highlight STO’s dedication to fostering inclusive and resilient communities while contributing to national progress in a sustainable and impactful manner.
