Ooredoo Maldives has partnered with the K. Dhiffushi Women’s Development Committee to conduct a tree-planting activity on the island as part of its ongoing Grow with Ooredoo environmental initiative.
The activity forms part of the telecommunications company's efforts to promote greener communities and encourage local participation in environmental conservation.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) supported the initiative by providing the plants used in the activity, Ooredoo said in a social media announcement.
The Grow with Ooredoo initiative brings together local communities and organisations through tree-planting activities and gardening programmes aimed at encouraging sustainable practices across the Maldives.
In its 2024 Annual Report, Ooredoo Maldives outlined a commitment to plant 20,000 trees between August 2024 and August 2025, followed by a target of 10,000 trees annually from 2026 to 2028.
The programme has previously included tree-planting and environmental awareness activities in GDh. Thinadhoo, K. Thulusdhoo and S. Hulhumeedhoo. It has also involved gardening sessions for senior citizens and students, promoting practical approaches to planting and maintaining greenery.
During 2025, Ooredoo extended the initiative through community tree-planting sessions in Addu City, including Hithadhoo, Feydhoo and Hulhumeedhoo, working with local councils and youth groups.
The latest activity in Dhiffushi continues the company's community-based environmental programme through collaboration with the island's Women's Development Committee and HDC.
