Velana International Airport today officially welcomed HiSky’s inaugural flight to Terminal 1 with a ceremonial water salute, marking the airline’s entry into the Maldivian aviation network.
Passengers arriving on the inaugural service were warmly received by the Group General Manager of Maldives Inflight Catering, Mr. Ali Shakir; Deputy Manager of Voyages Maldives, Mr. Ignaz Mansoor; representatives of HiSky; and Exco members of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
The first passengers were also accorded a traditional Maldivian welcome, reflecting the country’s signature hospitality and rich cultural heritage.
With the addition of HiSky, Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport now serves a total of 38 airlines. MACL has been gradually transferring airline operations to Terminal 1 since its opening in July. The new, modern, state-of-the-art terminal is expected to significantly enhance passenger experience and further boost the Maldives’ tourism sector by strengthening international connectivity.
