Maldivian Seaplane is set to expand its domestic network with the introduction of a new seaplane route to Thoddoo, enhancing air connectivity to one of the Maldives’ most popular local island destinations. The inaugural flight on the new route is scheduled to take off on 12 February 2026.
The new service
has been launched in response to growing travel demand and aligns with
government efforts to strengthen inter-island connectivity and promote balanced
regional development across the country. Improved air access is expected to
make travel more convenient for residents while also supporting increased
visitor movement to the island.
Flights to
Thoddoo will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays, offering
passengers a scenic journey by seaplane while significantly reducing travel
time. To commemorate the launch, Maldivian Seaplane has announced a special
promotional one-way fare of MVR 799 for locals, aimed at making air travel more
accessible and affordable.
Thoddoo has seen
steady growth in its guesthouse sector and local tourism offerings in recent
years, emerging as a key destination for travellers seeking an authentic island
experience. The introduction of scheduled seaplane services is expected to
further boost the island’s tourism-driven economy, supporting guesthouse
operators, small businesses and local livelihoods.
The addition of
Thoddoo follows a series of recent expansions to the seaplane network,
reflecting Maldivian Seaplane’s continued focus on improving island
connectivity across the Maldives and reinforcing the role of air transport in
driving sustainable regional development.
