TECNO Named Title Sponsor as 2026 SAFF Championship Launched in Dhaka

The South Asian Football Federation has officially launched the TECNO SAFF Championship Bangladesh 2026, with the Maldives set to compete in the region’s premier international football tournament in November.

The championship will be held in Dhaka from November 4 to 17 and will feature national teams from across South Asia, including the Maldives, Bangladesh and India.

The tournament was formally launched at a ceremony at the Sheraton Dhaka on Saturday, where SAFF unveiled the official championship logo and announced TECNO Bangladesh as the title sponsor.

Organised in partnership with the Bangladesh Football Federation and TECNO Bangladesh, the event brought together senior football administrators, representatives of SAFF member associations, national team captains, corporate partners, journalists and digital content creators from across the region.

SAFF General Secretary Purushottam Kattel opened the ceremony by outlining the vision for the championship and formally announcing TECNO as the tournament’s official title sponsor.

Kattel highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening football in South Asia and expressed confidence that the collaboration would enhance the championship’s visibility, commercial growth and engagement with supporters.

The official logo of the TECNO SAFF Championship Bangladesh 2026 was unveiled through a specially produced audiovisual presentation, marking the start of the build-up to the regional competition.

Kattel and Rezwanul Hoque, chief executive officer of Ismartu Technology BD Limited, representing TECNO Bangladesh, later exchanged the official title sponsorship agreement.

The partnership is expected to strengthen the championship’s promotion, increase fan engagement and contribute to the wider development of football across South Asia.

In a recorded message shown during the ceremony, TECNO Global General Manager Guo Lei reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting football as a platform for connecting communities, inspiring young talent and promoting regional unity.

Hoque said TECNO Bangladesh was proud to partner with SAFF and remained committed to contributing to the continued growth of football in the region.

Bangladesh Football Federation Vice-President Fahad Karim welcomed delegates and described the country’s hosting of the championship as a significant milestone for Bangladeshi football.

He said the tournament would showcase Bangladesh’s passion for football, hospitality and growing capacity to host major international sporting events.

The ceremony also featured a cinematic presentation highlighting Bangladesh as the host nation and introducing the participating SAFF member associations.

Representatives from the Maldives and the other participating countries attended the launch alongside federation officials, national team captains, invited dignitaries and corporate partners.

The formal programme concluded with a group photograph featuring SAFF officials, BFF representatives, delegates from the participating member associations and TECNO executives.

The SAFF Championship is South Asia’s leading international football competition and remains one of the most anticipated events on the regional sporting calendar.
