The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has launched BizConnect, a new business engagement initiative aimed at connecting the corporation's regional business centers with entrepreneurs across island economies, the corporation said.
The first BizConnect visit focused on businesses in the Creative and Digital Economy sector. BCC said the visit aimed to understand the challenges these businesses face and provide support to help them take their next step.
BizConnect will operate through regular Business Vital Checks. BCC said these checks will offer mentorship and continuous follow-up to help businesses grow and succeed.
BCC did not specify which islands or businesses were visited first or how often the Business Vital Checks will take place.
BCC was established in 2017 under a presidential decree as the legal vehicle for operating the country's regional Business Centers, created under the SME Act of 2013. The corporation is the implementing body for MSME development projects initiated by the Ministry of Economic Development.
BCC's stated objective is to build an enabling and inclusive business environment for micro, small, and medium enterprises through support mechanisms designed to help small businesses sustain, scale, and grow. The corporation has previously said it has contributed to the National Microeconomic Policy at every stage of its execution and has helped decentralize public services through its regional business centers.
