The Maldives Monetary Authority has opened applications for fully funded scholarships to study in Malaysia for the 2026 academic year.

The scholarships cover undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in Islamic finance, law, accounting, and economics.

Applicants can pursue a Bachelor of Accounting at University Islam Selangor. Master's options at the International Islamic University Malaysia include law and economics degrees. PhD programs in Islamic finance and applied muamalat are offered at INCEIF University.

The MMA said selected candidates will receive funding for tuition, living costs, a book allowance, and air travel to and from Malaysia. The package also covers visa costs and health insurance.

Recipients will be bonded to serve the Maldives for five years after completing their studies.

The bachelor's program requires a relevant diploma accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority or O-Level passes, along with an IELTS score above 5.0. Master's applicants need a relevant bachelor's degree and an IELTS score above 6.0, or a TOEFL score above 550.

The MMA said selection will be based on academic merit, the relevance of educational background, professional experience, and performance during the interview and assessment process.

Applicants must obtain pre-approval from the Maldives Qualifications Authority before commencing studies, the authority said.

The application deadline is 2:00 pm on 30 June 2026. Forms are available through the MMA. Further information is available from the MMA Institute for Research and Training.
