Eagle Hills chairman Mohamed Alabbar to arrive in Maldives tomorrow

Eagle Hills chairman Mohamed Alabbar is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives tomorrow, Thursday, 8 October, as the Abu Dhabi-based developer moves forward with its planned Maldives Waterfront and Marina development in Ras Malé.

During his visit, Alabbar is expected to meet representatives from local media outlets and members of the Maldivian business community. He is also scheduled to give a number of media interviews, with a luncheon involving media representatives and business figures planned for Thursday afternoon.

The visit comes weeks after the Government of Maldives and Eagle Hills signed a commercial terms agreement on 21 September for the Maldives Waterfront and Marina, a major integrated development planned for the Ras Malé area. The agreement establishes the shared vision and principal commercial terms of the project, with more detailed terms to be developed as it progresses.

Plans for the development include hotels and resorts, premium and branded residences, a marina, waterfront leisure areas, retail and dining outlets, entertainment and wellness facilities, as well as education, healthcare and community infrastructure.

Eagle Hills has said the project is intended to combine tourism, residential living and year-round economic activity within a single waterfront destination. The development is planned on reclaimed land in Ras Malé.

Alabbar is also the founder of Emaar Properties, the developer behind major landmarks including Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall.

He is expected to conclude his Maldives visit and depart on Friday.
