Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has introduced the country’s first-ever aviation industry awards, titled the Velana Awards, to recognize outstanding contributions by its partners at Velana International Airport (VIA).
The awards will be presented annually to acknowledge airlines and service providers that play a vital role in strengthening travel connectivity, enhancing service quality, and sustaining the Maldives’ position as a leading global destination for tourism and business.
In its inaugural edition, the Velana Awards will feature 22 honors across three main categories — Passenger Awards, Cargo Awards, and Lounge Awards. In addition, a special Airline of the Year title will be conferred on an airline that has demonstrated exceptional performance and commitment to the local aviation sector.
According to MACL, the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships within the aviation industry and encouraging continuous improvement in service standards.
The first Velana Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 12 at Crossroads Maldives.
